Thanks to reporter Kurt Rivera at Eyewitness News we have confirmation on the Crisp and Cole story:
From Eyewitness News:
Crisp selling new real estate office
29 Eyewitness News has learned the high profile real estate office of "Crisp & Cole" is no more, at least on paper.
According to state records, just last month the "Crisp and Cole" headquarters in the Bakersfield Town and County shopping center is now listed as Crisp Real Estate, Inc.
However, their signage hasn't changed.
29 Eyewitness News has also learned the once future real estate office for Crisp & Cole at 8800 Stockdale Highway is now for sale and it's David Crisp who has it for sale. The building's developer, Greg Bynum, confirms the sale to Realtor David Crisp just over a week ago. The current listing price $4.5 million.
Carl Cole, Crisp's former partner, is currently under investigation by the Department of Real Estate for using an unlicensed broker. The state says the alleged broker was involved in more than 50 real estate deals while Carl Cole was in charge. Cole says once he learned his employee was unlicensed, he fired him.

Home Savings Mortgage is pulling out of Bakersfield. They have layed off/fired their underwriter, two funders, and most of their processors. The local manager is trying to keep the loan officers in tact and affliate with a New company (First Mortgage Corp) from Diamond Bar, Ca. Firstmortgage.com
McMillin has a listing sign in front of their offices on Olive Drive. I hear they are also pulling out of Bakersfield, after closing existing tracts. Their Real Estate office has been closed over a month. No now tracts will be started.

I am not a real estae person but there is a post on a different part of this blog that says that David Crisp quitclaimed this property to Bakersfield University Partners (Greg Bynum). Who owns this property now and who is trying to sell it? I'm willing to do my own research just cuz it's so interesting but can someone give me a clue where to start?
Thanks red! I am looking into these.

Crisp owns the property now. He is crazy to think he can get $4.5 million for it, I will report back when (and if) it sells.
Good free sources - County of Kern website, recorder section and assessor section. Kerndata.com also has some free searches.
Ah ha! Excellent new post. Now I see how the 8800 Stockdale Property changed hands. Thanks BB.
